Our Mission
The Alberta Association of Legal Assistants was originally formed in 1981 to provide recognition for Legal Assistants who wanted to be accredited for the independent work they performed. Senior legal assistants, with their vast knowledge and experience, filled an important support role of performing legal services as paralegals. In 2000, the Association formally became the AAPP and continued their work promoting the paralegal profession. Association activities in supports of its mission include:
-
providing networking resources for paralegals throughout the province;
-
annual salary survey, with results being shared with members;
-
annual performance excellence awards;
-
hosting professional development courses
-
promoting other professional development opportunities
-
providing annual bursaries to eligible students in recognized programs;
-
providing an annual scholarship to an eligible person in honour or our late member, Bev Boyden
